Ben and Katy Ray are Church Missionary Society
(CMS) mission partners in the Diocese of Ruaha, Iringa,
Tanzania to work with Neema Crafts. Neema provides
crafts training for deaf and physically disabled
people. www.neemacrafts.com. It has workshops
employing over 100 people, a restaurant, internet
cafe and now a 10 bedroom guest hostel.
Ben and Katy’s role at Neema will be to direct and
manage it for a 5 year period. There are a number of
locally trained accountants and general managers who
deal with the day to day issues and running of the
centre. Ben and Katy, using their design education
backgrounds, hope to extend the business opportunities of the workforce to try and ensure that Neema
last year and went on a course involving a practical,
skills based training - carpentry, bookbinding, and
ceramics making as well as a business link course.
